Our Story

Lily and Nick’s story is a simple straightforward tale leading to marriage. Now that we’ve lost the attention of those that don’t know us, our story is not simple nor straightforward. However, it is one of growth and most importantly love.

Lily and Nick met in college at the University of Texas and found themselves in the same friend group by Junior year. That’s when Nick took notice of the gorgeous girl who had everyone crying laughing every time they were in the same room. A winter formal, New Year’s Eve text message, and short notice Counter Cafe lunch later, and they were dating. Once dating their love was fast growing as they quickly realized that together they were better. The college romance continued until the real world and obstacles that come with it won out over the couple’s love. They broke up the Sunday after TX vs. OU in 2019, ending the first chapter of their relationship.


The next three years were an interesting part of their story to say the least. It started with both of them avoiding each other like the plague for the remainder of college. Then came the realization that their forever friends were the same junior year group they met in. Clearly never speaking again wasn’t possible. But being friends for these two wasn’t an easy task either. The same original love bubbled under the surface. A few relationships, interesting TX vs. OU’s (starting to notice a theme?), and friend reunions later they found themselves in the same place as their breakup without a path forward.

In 2022 that changed. At the most important TX vs. OU of their lives Nick asked Lily to get coffee. That simple ask changed their lives forever. Nick walked into the conversation knowing that he wanted Lily back and Lily walked in knowing what she needed in a relationship. Leaving this conversation both knew that forever was on the table, all it would take is a little work. And work they did. The next year and a half would be dedicated to weekend trips between Houston and Dallas, nightly FaceTime calls, and making the most of every second they got to spend with each other. The payoff was better than anything they could have ever asked for. That same love that brought them together in college paired with a fierce commitment to each other.

Nick proposed to Lily in Dallas on April 18th, 2025. Lily’s surprise at the engagement was aided by months of deception by her closest friends and family, all so excited for their next chapter in life


Today Lily and Nick live together in Houston with their dog Sprout. They continue build on that original love and grow together. Our path was certainly not straightforward, but we wouldn’t have done it any other way.
